Response
Information provided
1) Please share the dates of any meetings that were held with Eltisley Parish Council about the reopening of the Cambridge Road junction.
Meetings were held on:
• 10 January 2025
• 25 February 2025
• 18 March 2025
• 14 April 2025
• 24 June 2025
3) What was the basis for the decision to open the road out of the village only (in the direction of the present A428?)
This was a community initiative led by the Parish. The decision was made by National Highways, Cambridgeshire County Council, and Eltisley Parish Council after concerns were raised by the parish regarding rat running and volumes of traffic. It was seen as a half way position initially. The situation would be monitored and the road reopened in both directions if required.
4) What representations have you received from Eltisley Parish Council in respect of any decision to reopen Cambridge Road Junction.
We have not received any representations.
6) During the recent live event Thursday 31 July it was said there had considerable engagement with Eltisley village about the decision to open the junction. What engagement took place beyond any meetings with the Parish Council and what, if any, part of that engagement was documented such that it could be said to have formally informed the decision about the Cambridge Road junction?
We held an information event at the village hall on 24 April 2025 at which we advised residents about the realignment of the A428 and the opening of the new bridge and roundabouts later that month. Representatives from Skanska and Cambridge County Council attended. We did not document any part of that engagement.
8) Was National Highways told that there had been any formal consultation with Eltisley Village from the Parish Council? If so what form was this alleged to have taken? And what was the result.
Eltisley Parish Council advised National Highways that they had held an open meeting for all residents (date unknown) where they presented the options as they saw them and asked for feedback from residents. National Highways and Skanska did not attend and do not know what the result was.
National Highways was also advised by residents who attended our regular scheme drop in events, that the open meeting had taken place.
