Request
Under the Freedom of Information Act 2000, I am requesting data regarding incidents on the Strategic Road Network (SRN) involving specific vehicle mechanical failures and their impact on operational performance targets.
Please provide the total number of recorded incidents for the calendar year 2025 where a vehicle was reported as being immobilised due to:
1. A gearbox "stuck in park" (or equivalent transmission lock).
2. An electric parking brake (EPB) "stuck on" (failure to disengage).
Performance Impact:
For the incidents identified above, please state how many resulted in a failure to meet Key Performance Indicator (KPI) 2.3 (the target to clear 80% of motorway incidents within one hour).
Data Hierarchy (Section 16 Advice):
To ensure this request does not exceed the cost limit under Section 12 of the Act, I am providing the following hierarchy of preferences for data retrieval:
* Option 1: National figures for the full calendar year 2025.
* Option 2: Full calendar year 2025 data for the North West Region only.
* Option 3: National figures for the months of August 2025 and December 2025 only.
* Option 4: Data for the North West Region specifically for the months of August 2025 and December 2025.
Response
